Los Gatos Library is excited to partner with Kids Cooking for Life, a Bay Area organization that aims to educate kids on nutrition and inspire lifelong healthy cooking and eating habits through hands-on cooking classes over Zoom. By partnering with this organization and offering these classes, the Library is helping another classroom in a lower socio-economic community who cannot afford to pay for it.

This series of 4 cooking classes will teach students (grades 4-8) how to make recipes from around the world! These popular family friendly dishes will stir up fun discovery of new spices and seasonings. Each recipe uses simple ingredients and is sure to become a family favorite:

Oct 28: Whole Grain Pizza Primavera- Vegetarian/ Dairy/ Whole Wheat Pita

Nov: 4: Asian Lettuce Wraps (Ground Turkey will be the protein used- substitute tofu or other plant based protein if vegetarian) Soy

Nov 11:Spicy Black Bean Quesadillas (vegetarian/Dairy/Whole Wheat tortilla)

Nov 18: Tofu Tikka Masala - (NOTE: we will add some optional yogurt as suggested in the recipe “Variations to try”  to make it creamier)

(These recipes accommodate nut allergies only.)

All students must have:

  • Adult supervision during class
  • Basic kitchen equipment which may include cutting board, bowls, spoons, pots/pans, stove top, etc.
  • A device with a functioning camera, speaker, and microphone and a stable internet connectivity to stream Zoom.
  • Clean area for food preparation involving washing, chopping, mixing and cooking.

We highly recommend and prefer attendees to attend all 4 sessions. Please note that November 11th is Veteran's Day.
