Crankie Show with Brendan Taaffe
Saturday, April 13
1-1:45 PM

Crankies are illustrated scrolls that are cranked from one side to the other in a wooden puppet theater, accompanied by songs and stories. Known as moving panoramas in the 19th century, this once popular entertainment has made a resurgence in the past 15 years, enchanting children and adults alike with simplicity and magic.

Made possible by a Fair Game Grant.

A beloved crankie artist and musician from Vermont, Brendan Taaffe has been sharing crankies for a decade and music for longer than that. He brings traditional folk tales, songs, and even a nonsense poem by Edward Lear.

Brendan Taaffe is a musician and artist who lives on a small homestead in southern Vermont. He has performed throughout North American and Europe as a solo artist and with ensembles including The Bright Wings Chorus, The Waxwing Four, and Northern Harmony. Brendan holds a masters degree in performance from the Irish World Music Centre at the University of Limerick, Ireland
