Fairfield What Are You Reading?

By Fairfield Public Library

Welcome to Fairfield What Are You Reading? We are Fairfield Public Library staff in Fairfield, CT and we love reading. Join us each month as we gather together for a conversation about what we're reading, what we've just finished, what we're excited about coming soon. Most of the books will be new. The mood of this podcast is relaxed. Imagine you come into the library, ask a librarian for a next great read, and a couple more people stop by and soon everyone is trading their favorite new reads.

Episode 25: One Book One Town (OBOT) 2023: An Interview with Ivan Maisel and Meg Murray

We are honored that our 2023 One Book One Town (OBOT) title was written by a resident of Fairfield. This year’s OBOT selection is I Keep Trying to Catch His Eye by Ivan Maisel.  It is an honest and emotionally deep memoir in which Ivan reflects on the loss of his dear son Max to suicide, the impact of  grief on family and community, and the painful journey which brings Ivan to a place of seeing grief as an expression of love.

We are so fortunate to have Ivan and his wife Meg Murray with us for the podcast to focus on their journey as individuals, as a couple and as parents to their three children including Max. Please join us for a very special edition of Fairfield, What Are You Reading.

Podcast host: Philip Bahr, Head of Adult Services
OBOT Co-chair: Mary Coe, Branch Reference Librarian,
Guests: Ivan Maisel, author, and his wife Meg Murray

Welcome to a special edition of Fairfield, What Are You Reading?

Each year Fairfield Public Library creates a One Book One Town event for Fairfield, Connecticut. This year the committee (comprised of library staff, local university and bookstore staff, and others) selected TJ Klune’s The House in the Cerulean Sea.

From the publisher, “The House in the Cerulean Sea is an enchanting love story, masterfully told, about the profound experience of discovering an unlikely family in an unexpected place—and realizing that family is yours.”

On March 1, 2022 Fairfield Public Library hosted an evening (in-person and remote) with author TJ Klune. This podcast episode is the interview portion of the evening as TJ sat down with me for a one-on-one deep dive into his life and work. I'm Philip Bahr, Head of Adult Services at the library. I was extremely honored to interview TJ. Please enjoy this portion of our One Book One Town signature event. To view the entire evening, click below for the YouTube recording:

And now, curl up, and enjoy our 2022 OBOT author TJ Klune.
