What is a Mobile Wi-Fi Hotspot?

A mobile Wi-Fi hotspot is a device that you can take with you to access the internet from wherever you are. Mobile Wi-Fi hotspots connect to cellular data the same where a smart phone does to create a secure and reliable internet connection for devices that need one.

What libraries are offering Mobile Wi-Fi Hotspots?

Use our Hot Spot Map to find libraries that are lending hot spots.

Massachusetts residents with library cards in good standing are eligible to borrow a state funded hot spot from any library that is offering one. Check with your local library first.

Your Library Not Showing?

Some libraries not participating in the state program may also lend hotspots.  Check the library's catalog, or its "Library of Things", or contact the library directly to find out.

What can I do with a Mobile Hotspot?

Wi-Fi hotspots allow for:

  • Telehealth visits
  • Job searches
  • Online classes
  • Homework research
  • Video calls with friends and family

And anything else you need a reliable internet connection for.

Who can Borrow a Hotspot?

Does it cost anything for me to use one?
