Pen Pal Exchange Program
 
South Country Library and Lunenburg Library in Nova Scotia have arranged a pen pal match for patrons to exchange letters. We provide kits with stationery and writing prompts. Letters will be sent to/from the libraries; you will receive notice to pick up your letter.
 
Register & pick up your kit at the Reference Desk beginning Wednesday, February 23. Bring your written letter back to us by March 31.

Defensive Driving
Saturday March 5, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Course completion entitles you to a 10% discount on vehicle liability, personal injury protection, & collision insurance for 3 years; and a reduction of up to 4 points on your driving record every 18 months.

Jim Cummings teaches the fundamental movements & theory of Beijing Tai Chi form. Improve stability and overall health. Wear loose clothing and soft-soled shoes. 7 classes, $17.50. March 10, 17, 24, 31, April 7, 14, 21.
 
Qigong
Fridays

This Chinese healing art consists of gentle exercises which helps lower blood pressure and increase bone density & balance. Tom Linden is certified by the Center for Taiji Studies.

Health Insurance Enrollment Help

A certified Healthcare Navigator will help you enroll through NY State of Health Martketplae. Includes: Medicaid, Child Health Plus, Essential and Qualified Health Plans. Masks will be required during appointments.
 
 
Boating Safety Course
Saturday, March 26, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
 
This U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary-instructed course includes their safety book and grants a certificate upon completion. 
Bring a snack and drink. Register in person at the Reference Desk with a check or money order payable to USCG AUX.
Fee: $40 adults, $35 under 18.
 
NY Boating Safety Certificate Requirements
Anyone born on or after Jan. 1, 1988 needs a certificate this year.
A boating safety certificate will be needed: 
in 2023 for those born on or after 1/1/83.
in 2024 for those born on or after 1/1/78.
in 2025 for ALL motor boat operators regardless of age.

Services for Veterans and Job-Seekers
Helps veterans and their families navigate the VA bureaucracy, provides academic tutoring, and assists with employment transition.
Provides various tools to help with every step of the job search including résumé assistance, interview preparation, and career planning.
Both above services provide live virtual assistance
every day from 2:00 - 11:00 PM. A current library card is required.
