In Person Volunteer Opportunities
Juneteenth Poster Contest
Must be submitted by May 13th

Students (grades K through 12) are invited to submit original, creative posters illustrating the power of unity and the history of Juneteenth. Students should submit their posters in person to the South Country Library Adult Reference Desk by Monday, May 13th. Posters will be displayed at the South Country Library’s Juneteenth event on Thursday, June 13 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
All participants will receive 3 hours of Community Service for completing and submitting a poster by the deadline.

Authors Unlimited celebrates reading by connecting teens and young adult authors! Liz Brazwell (What Once Was Mine, a Disney Twisted Tale), George O’Connor (Asgardians: Odin), and Victor Piñeiro (Time Villains) make up this year’s all-star lineup! The program will begin with a group panel followed by solo sessions from each author. Books will be sold and can be signed! Attendees will earn three hours of community service credit for attending and filling out a survey at the end of the day. Register at au2024.eventbrite.com

Share ideas and help plan library programs.
We will discuss all upcoming programs and events happening at the library. By attending you will get a say in the future programs.
Everyone who attends will receive 1 hour of community service.

Join the South Country community as we clean our streets for Earth Day! We will meet at the library at 2:30pm. Call the library for more information. Student volunteers will be able to earn community service hours for participating.

Volunteers are needed to assist library staff with various activities at the event.

Coupons for the Troops

We are not accepting appointments at this time.

Stop by the Teen Services Desk to to clip and sort coupons. These coupons will be sent to Troopons, program enhances the well-being of overseas and domestic military families by sending them food, non-food, baby, and pet manufacturer coupons to make their hard-earned dollars go farther.
All correctly sorted and counted coupons will receive 1 hour of community service.
*Please note you will no long be permitted to clip coupons at home to receive credit.

At Home Volunteer Opportunities

Read a new YA Book (fiction, non-fiction, graphic novel, e-book or audiobook). Submit a review to earn a certificate for 2 community service hours. You can do a maximum of 1 book review a month. Books can be found in the library catalog or on Overdrive Please fill out the review form online.

Please note: Reviews on Manga will no longer be accepted for Community Service.

All reviews are checked for plagiarism and AI assistance. If there is reason to believe that the review is not your own, you will not receive any credit.

  • All Community Service opportunities are for South Country Library patrons only. All others seeking community service hours must visit their home library.
  • Any paperwork needed to be signed can be done so Monday to Thursday from 1:00 to 5:00 pm at the Young Adult Desk, unless prior arrangements have been made. Please call ahead to ensure someone is available.
  • All requests for additional community service projects beyond what is offered must be made at least one week in advance to the YA Librarian. Additional projects are not always available and depend on the library’s needs.
