In-Person Book Repair Workshop In-Person

In this hands-on workshop, attendees will learn preventative protection approaches and repair techniques to extend the circulation life of their library materials.

Attendees will watch a video supplied by Kapco – a leading manufacturer of book protection materials – and practice using the protection and repair techniques on their own books. A sample kit of supplies will be provided to each attendee.

Attendees should bring the following materials to use for practice:

· A new paperback book

· A hardcover book with a dust jacket

· A hardcover book without a dust jacket

· A magazine or thin book with saddle-stitched binding (stapled)

· A pair of sharp scissors, a 12” ruler, and a pencil

This workshop will be facilitated by Julie Moussot, Circulation Supervisor and resident “book doctor” at the Wallkill Public Library. She will demo techniques that she has perfected in the field, aid attendees in the hands-on portion of the workshop, and recommend tools and products to for your repair arsenal. Bring your wounded books for triage and Julie will give you advice on your best repair options.

Attendance at this program will result in 2 CE hours.
