Get Ready for Kindergarten

Is your child ready for Kindergarten? Most children begin school in Santa Clara County when they are five years old. Whether or not your child has attended preschool or a school readiness program, you can prepare your soon-to-be Kindergartner with our librarian-approved resources. We have divided the most important skillsets into six categories for you to explore and learn with your child: Health and Well-Being, Early Literacy, Social and Emotional Development, Language and Communication Skills, Mathematical Thinking, and Science. By visiting any of our skillset pages, you will find checklists, programs, booklists, eResources, and websites. We hope you enjoy exploring, reading, and playing with your child as you near Kindergarten!
