Meet the Little Mermaid Monday, August 15, 6:00 - 6:45 PM The Little Mermaid will visit be visiting the library! She'll read & sing and take photos with the children. Kids can dress up if they want. Space is limited, so each child must be registered to attend. For children ages 18 months - 10 years with an adult.

If you registered for the July session of Meet the Little Mermaid, please do not register for the August session so that other families get a chance to attend. Thank you.

Train Time at the Long Island Live Steamers Tuesday, August 16, 10:30 - 11:00 AM

|
All Aboard for Train Time! This event is taking place at Long Island Live Steamers at Southaven County Park, Gerard Road Entrance, Brookhaven. For children ages 2 - 5 years with an adult.
|
|
Per their safety rules, LI Live Steamers requires that a child must be able to walk independently in order to ride the mini train. Trains have limited capacity; we cannot guarantee a train ride for extra children.

Preschool Readiness Wednesday, August 17, 6:00 - 7:00 PM Enjoy this fun school readiness program by A Time for Kids featuring music, movement, fine and gross motor skill development and storytelling. For children ages 2 - 5 years with an adult.

This week is Harry Potter Week! Come to the library to celebrate Harry Potter! Photo opportunities, activity sheets, and giveaways will be available while supplies last.

Newborn - Pre-K Register in person at the Children's Desk. Read books to your child at your own pace and earn prizes.

Take-Home Craft & Activity Kits Kits are available for pick-up as soon as registration begins, while supplies last. Register in-person, by phone (631-286-0818 x2), or online.

Paper Plate Puffer Fish For children in grades K - 2. Make a cute and colorful puffer fish to hang out under the sea.

Under the Sea Lacing Busy Bag For children ages 2 - 4 years. Lace fun sea-themed shapes to help build motor and visual skills.

Silly Stickers Craft For children ages 2.5 - 5 years. Create a fun scene using the stickers provided.
|

Flying Spaceship For children in grades K - 2. A paper craft that will blast off with a colorful spaceship and yarn.

Kids Birthdays We love to make kids feel special for their birthday!

During your child's birthday month, let us know at the Children's Desk so we can put their name on a paper candle on the bulletin board birthday cupcake, and give them a birthday sticker.

Research shows that even a small amount of time spent on academics over the course of the summer makes a difference. The purpose of the Skills Camp is not to overwhelm students with a comprehensive survey of each academic topic, but to focus on areas that are academically significant, generated the most tutoring questions over the course of the school year, and do not require a significant time commitment over summer vacation.
