Self-Defense: Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Fundamentals
Tuesday, August 23, 7:00 - 8:30 PM
 
This introduction to self-defense for adults is open to both men and women interested in learning how to proactively stay safe, deter an aggressor, and neutralize an attack.
Instructor Joseph Mordente, owner of Bellport Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, aims to educate and empower everyone in our community with self-defense techniques they can use. This class includes light physical participation in a safe, supportive environment. Click here to register.

Defensive Driving (in-person)
Monday, August 29 AND Tuesday, August 30
5:30 - 8:30 PM both evenings
 
Course completion entitles you to a 10% discount on vehicle liability, personal injury protection, and collision insurance for three years; and a reduction of up to 4 points on your driving record every 18 months.The fee is $30, due at registration. Register at the Reference Desk with a check or money order payable to Empire Safety Council.
This is a 6-hour class meeting in two parts. Students must attend all three hours of both evenings in order to complete the course.

Preparedness Food Pantry (via Zoom)

Being prepared for the unexpected is an investment in your wellbeing. We never know what the future may bring. Whether it is an unexpected illness, loss of income, supply chain and distribution issues, severe weather, or a natural disaster, it is important to have food, water, and basic supplies available.
Join us to learn how to safely store food, what to store, how to find storage space and how to manage your food supplies and budget. Zoom link will be provided to registrants before the program. Click here to register.

Services for Veterans and Job-Seekers
Helps veterans and their families navigate the VA bureaucracy, provides academic tutoring, and assists with employment transition.
Provides various tools to help with every step of the job search including résumé assistance, interview preparation, and career planning.
Both above services provide live virtual assistance
every day from 2:00 - 11:00 PM. A current library card is required.
