Cranberries and cranberry bogs are an iconic element of Massachusetts’ historical, cultural and natural landscapes. As one of only four commercially-grown berries still native to New England, the cranberry draws strong historical ties to the earliest inhabitants of the Commonwealth, including the first English settlers. Today, in the 21st century, growers strive to keep the tradition alive as part of the common cultural landscape by combining sustainable agricultural practices with environmental stewardship. The industry protects essential upland and wetland habitats harness renewable energy such as wind and solar power and adopting new technologies to reduce water use on bogs.

A cranberry farmer or industry representative will talk about the life of a cranberry plant, its health benefits, farming cranberries and topics that support the industry.
