Storysongs presented by Pioneer Center Youth Programs

StorySongs celebrates the rich natural and cultural heritage of Nevada with simple, yet provocative musical tales. This interactive show combines stunning outdoor images, inspiring music, audience participation, and humor to demonstrate the importance of connecting with nature. Audiences will be awed by award-winning images while they sing, laugh, and stomp to the rhythms of the Buffalo hide drum and African djembe.

Photographer/geologist Mark Vollmer and storyteller Jim Eaglesmith have “edutained” audiences of all ages in schools, libraries, and museums with their unique blend of earth science, visual arts, and live music for over 25 years, including 11 years as roster artists for the Nevada Arts Council. Mark’s photography reveals the elegant beauty of our natural landscape and its inhabitants. Jim’s inspiration for musical storytelling comes from the beauty of the natural world and the human spirit. StorySongs blends these elements with science, Nevada history, and music curriculum. This program is available in-person and for virtual streaming.
