Gr 1--4--In his third adventure, Sir Ladybug receives an ant-delivered notice that a book he checked out from the library is nearly overdue. Upon his "knightly honor," Sir Ladybug vows to return the book before the sunset deadline. Bug after bug after bug calls for help, though, derailing the quest. The ultimate snag: a trio of bookworms traps Sir Ladybug and friends and tries to eat the book. Who will stop them? Tabor's latest follows the same welcoming, predictable format as the previous volumes: a prologue and/or epilogue, with short chapters and interludes between. The low panel count and abundant white space helps keep the book accessible to newer comics readers. Promoting honorable values and contagious silliness, this romp ultimately delivers on the promise that libraries can be for everyone--even bookworms. VERDICT A loving ode to books, reading, and community-supported libraries. Recommended for all collections.

A third adventure is afoot for Sir Ladybug and his stalwart companions, Pell and Sterling, when an ant dramatically soars into their midst in a paper plane. She gives Sir Ladybug notice that he has a library book due that day and then flies back into the clouds ("Librarians are so cool!"). Faced with the "eternal shame of an overdue library book," Sir Ladybug is determined to find the library--its location changes--and save his honor. Unfortunately, this goal hovers just out of reach as the noble trio is beset, first by bugs in need of their help, then by hungry bookworms who have savory designs on Sir Ladybug's book. Tabor keeps the laughs coming in this new addition to his wonderful graphic-reader series. Though the bookish jokes and underlying message about everyone being welcome at the library will make it a particular favorite among librarians, kids will get a kick out of the story's elevation of a common scenario (returning a library book) into a full-blown quest. Simple cartoon illustrations match the drama.
