PROGRAMS & ACTIVITIES FOR TEENS These programs are intended for teens in grades 6 - 12 only.

Attention teens in grades 9 - 12: Now is the time to sign up for Advanced Battle of the Books! Do you like to read and to play trivia? Join us as we prepare to compete against the other Suffolk County Libraries in the Advanced Battle of the Books. We focus on 2 books: Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim and The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. When you register you will receive a set of books to keep and start to read now.

Practice sessions are 7:00 - 8:00 PM on the following Thursdays: Nov. 3 & 17, Dec. 15 & 29, Jan. 12 & 26, Feb. 2 & 9. The competition will be on Saturday, February 11, at Sachem Public Library. Exact start time to be determined.

Stranger Things Day Saturday, November 5, 1:30 - 4:30 PM On November 6, 1983, the world turned Upside Down. Forever. Join us for a day of activities as we celebrate our favorite supernatural series. This event will include crafts, games, snacks, and a viewing of the first episode. Click here to register.

Let us pick out your next read! Based on your likes and dislikes, we'll choose a library book for you to check out, and fill a box with themed goodies. Return the library book -- keep the rest. November's theme is the 1980s, when Stranger Things takes place.

November Raffle: Stranger Things Play our monthly raffle for a chance to win candy! For November -- guess the Stranger Things character from a photo. Play in-person in the Teen Department or virtually here.

Take-Home Kit: Wishing Stars Pick-up starts Tuesday, November 8 Make a jar full of origami wishing stars to decorate your room.

Book Binding Wednesday, November 16, 7:00 - 8:30 PM Make a notebook with a French link stitch bookbinding technique.

Volunteer Opportunities Earn 1 hour of community service for each of these programs.

Bookmarks for the Homebound Wednesday, November 9, 6:30 - 7:30 PM Stop by the YA Department to make bookmarks for our homebound patrons who can not come to the library.

Letters to Veterans Thursday, November 10, 4:00 - 6:00 PM Drop in any time between 4 and 6 PM to write greeting cards to veterans across Long Island, just in time for Veterans Day!
|
|
You do not need to stay the entire time. We will have the supplies out for you to drop by and make a few cards.

Broadway at the Library: Into the Woods Monday, November 14, 4:00 - 6:30 PM Let's celebrate Broadway by watching a classic show at the library. We'll be viewing the original Broadway cast version of Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods. Snacks will be served. This is a mixed Adult/Young Adult event.

Teen Book Club Monday, November 21, 4:30 - 5:30 PM Fear Street: Party Games by R. L. Stine Stop by the YA Desk to pick up a copy of the book to check out.
