Library News
from South Country Library
January 10, 2023
Building community by sharing the wonders of learning, creating, and connecting with one another.

Hello South Country Community,

Families with Children: Have you registered for this month's in-person programs? Check them out here, and don't forget about our Winter Reading Challenge and Penguin Scavenger Hunt.

Teens: Crafts for January and February are open for registration. This month's crafts are crystals, a boba tea keychain, and a polar bear painting.

Adults: Take a fresh look at your financial situation -- we have classes coming up for taxes, retirement, and more.

The Library will be closed on Monday, January 16, in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

We hope your 2023 is off to a great start.

Recycle Your Old Holiday String Lights
Now through late-February
Don't throw out your old string lights!
If they're very old or faulty, bring them to our collection bin at the library. We'll send them to a special recycling facility.
If they are completely working and look great, please donate them to Savers, Salvation Army, or another thrift shop.

Indoor Concert
The Whitman String Quartet
Friday, January 27, 7:00 - 8:30 PM

The Whitman String Quartet will give their first performance at our library, with selections by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Debussy, and more, as well as recent works. Registration is required.
The WSQ is comprised of Stony Brook University doctoral students and graduates. The group has trained under the Philip Setzer and Emerson String Quartets, and are currently featured on concert series hosted by North Shore Pro Musica, Three Village Chamber Players, and more.
