Summoned to the remote marshes of Norfolk, scientist Harry Hunt, after identifying the skeleton of Captain Jeffrey Hudson--a prominent member of the court that no one knew was dead because another man had been impersonating him--must search for the culprit in Paris, where he uncovers a plot to kill the Queen and all the Catholic members of her court.
