Hello South Country Community,
Adults: Guided Meditation and Defensive Driving are back again, and look forward to Native Gardens later in March. By the way -- if you're a senior in need of assistance, come see our Senior Advocate next Monday the 13th, between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM.
Families with Children: Stop by the Children's Department every week in March to try our Crayon Scavenger Hunt. While you're here, play with our new Litezilla!
Daylight Saving Time starts Sunday, March 12. Remember to spring ahead -- set your clocks forward one hour.

Girls Inc. of Long Island will be available in our main corridor to discuss their programs. They inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold, through direct service and advocacy.

In partnership with the Health and Welfare Council of Long Island, the library will host multiple organizations in our main corridor, providing information on SNAP benefits and nutrition help, aid to the developmentally disabled, housing assistance, mental and behavioral health services, and more.
Feel free to stop by and meet with them.

FCA will be available in our main corridor to discuss their Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Program and other services.

Vote for our next Outdoor Movie, which we will show on Friday, May 19, at the South Country Ambulance Company.

Community Notice: The Library will be replacing the HVAC system for the original section of the building this Spring. We are expecting a building closure while the work is being performed.
A variety of services will still be available including e-books, streaming services, parking lot wifi and ref assistance via email, phone and chat. Please call, check our website, or visit our social media for updates on the exact time frame.
We are pleased to note the new system will be highly energy efficient and will run on 100% clean energy while providing for greater comfort control and introduction of fresh air into the building. Thank you in advance for your patience during construction!

The Library offers free passes to select museums on Long Island & in NYC. We also provide access to discounted tickets to Long Island Aquarium & the Bronx Zoo.

We will very gratefully accept donations in the bin in our lobby of non-perishable food to help re-stock the pantry.

When stocked, our Give or Take Food Pantry provides food items for those in need, in the lobby anytime the library is open.

Sign Up to be a Literacy Volunteer!
Are you interested in helping someone learn to read and write English? The Library is looking for volunteers with instructional experience who would like to open countless doors for someone else by offering the gift of literacy. Interested persons should complete this application and contact Jack in the Reference Department at 631-286-0818 ext 1.

South Country Library patrons may renew their card or apply for a new one online. Images of photo ID & address verification are required. Or visit our Patron Services desk at the front of the library for the same service.

Passport Services by Appointment
We serve first-time applicants, minor applicants, adult applicants whose most recent passport was issued as a minor, and applicants who have lost their passports.
|
|
Hours are by appointment only.
You may also call us at 631-286-0818 x1.
Our service cannot renew a passport.
Printed forms are available by the Reference Desk.

Angie and Kate are our social work interns from Stony Brook University. They can help with information, referrals, and paperwork for housing, treatment, social services, unemployment, food pantries, and more.

Services for Veterans and Job-Seekers
|
|
Helps veterans and their families navigate the VA bureaucracy, provides academic tutoring, and assists with employment transition.
|
Provides various tools to help with every step of the job search including résumé assistance, interview preparation, and career planning.
|
|
Each service provides live virtual assistance every day
from 2:00 - 11:00 PM. A current library card is required.
