This in-depth training provides a practical yet rich exploration of community collaboration, ranging from initiating relationships to creating a partnership agreement to dealing with failure.

As a result of community collaboration training, participants will be able to:

Explain the role and importance of community-led approaches in libraries.

Apply the theory and research of effective community engagement in their own libraries to create more inclusive and relevant services.

Utilize planning tools to craft effective partnerships.

Engage in self-reflection to increase cultural awareness and humility.

Identify and enact changes in their own work to better support community.

Your presenter:

Audrey Barbakoff is passionate about inspiring and empowering librarians to meaningfully center their diverse communities. With over a decade of public library and community partnership experience, she brings extensive practical knowledge to her training. She is a sought-after speaker and educator with a long history of state, national, and local training both online and in-person. Audrey is a nationally-recognized expert in community engagement. Her doctoral research focused on building capacity for equity, diversity, and inclusion through community-led programs in public libraries. Her work has received accolades from Library Journal Movers & Shakers, the Urban Libraries Council, the Kitsap Peninsula Business Journal 40 Under 40, and the Freedom to Read Foundation. Audrey holds an MLIS from the University of Washington and an EdD in Organizational Change and Leadership from the University of Southern California. She is the author of Twelve Steps to a Community-Led Library (forthcoming) and Adults Just Wanna Have Fun: Programs for Emerging Adults.
