Defensive Driving
Wednesday, April 5 OR Saturday, April 22

Course completion entitles you to a 10% discount on vehicle liability, personal injury protection, and collision insurance for three years; and a reduction of up to 4 points on your driving record every 18 months.The fee is $30, due at registration. Register at the Reference Desk with a check or money order payable to Empire Safety Council.
 
 
Knit and Crochet Circle
Saturday, April 8, 12:00 - 1:00 PM
 
Bring your knitting, crochet work, sewing, or other fiber arts project. Work on and chat about your current projects with fellow enthusiasts. This is not an instructional program. All are welcome.

Guided Meditation
Thursday, April 13, 6:00 - 6:45 PM

 
Michele will briefly explain the benefits of meditation and then lead a guided visualization meditation incorporating sound chimes. After meditating participants will have time to share their experience or ask questions.
Everyone will receive an affirmation card to keep. Bring a yoga mat or blanket or opt to remain seated. Click here to register.
 
 
Call for Volunteers

If you have practical skills and want to help empower people to save money and reduce waste, please volunteer for our upcoming Repair Café. Volunteers may bring the tools they wish to use. Refreshments provided, including deli lunch for volunteers. Laurie Farber of Repair Café Long Island will contact volunteers with more information.

Advocates help seniors find benefits for which they may be eligible and assist with the application process. Programs that foster economic independence include SNAP, MSP, and HEAP. Registration not required.

Alzheimer’s and Dementia Caregiver Support Group
2nd & 4th Monday of each month, 1:00 - 2:30 PM
in Study Room A in the Reference Area
 
Join our Alzheimer’s and Dementia Caregiver Support Group, presented by Family & Children's Association and Parker Jewish Institute’s Willing Hearts, Helpful Hands, for caregivers of loved ones with dementia or Alzheimer's disease. Meetings provide these caregivers opportunities to meet with others, participate in educational programs, and have questions answered about their loved one's care.

Renew or Apply for a New Library Card on Our Website
South Country Library patrons may renew their card or apply for a new one online. Images of photo ID & address verification are required. Or visit our Patron Services desk at the front of the library for the same service.

 
Passport Services by Appointment
We serve first-time applicants, minor applicants, adult applicants whose most recent passport was issued as a minor, and applicants who have lost their passports. 
Hours are by appointment only.

Our service cannot renew a passport.

Services for Veterans and Job-Seekers
Helps veterans and their families navigate the VA bureaucracy, provides academic tutoring, and assists with employment transition.
Provides various tools to help with every step of the job search including résumé assistance, interview preparation, and career planning.
Each service provides live virtual assistance every day
from 2:00 - 11:00 PM. A current library card is required.
