This fast-paced redemptive memoir by a Chicago journalist and novelist depicts her coming-of-age along with that of her younger sister, Kim, and best friend, Debra, in their historic Bronzeville neighborhood of Chicago. Read about their joys, dreams for future careers, and vows of forever friendship—yet also now their paths veer in dramatically different directions—facing heartbreak, loss, and even a murder charge.
