Exploring the Arts: Great Films from the 1970s
For American movies, everything changed in the 1970s (roughly speaking). The old studio system and the Production Code were gone. The so-called “New Hollywood” had arrived. Auteur directors were creating highly original work while the industry was turning into a machine for cranking out blockbusters. In this presentation and conversation, we will survey the many important films of this period. We will also go behind the scenes to consider why so many significant changes were happening.
