Annular Solar Eclipse Presentation
This interactive event will prepare learners of all ages for the upcoming partial solar eclipse on October 14. Learn about why eclipses happen, the "anatomy" of an eclipse, and the science behind why we need to wear eye protection to view these spectacular events! Free solar eclipse glasses will be available to take home and everyone will get to make their own UV-color changing bracelet.
This program will be led by Molly Watstein. Molly is currently a Community Support Scientist for the Large Millimeter Telescope, an international observatory co-run by the University of Massachusetts Amherst and the Instituto Nacional de Astrofísica, Óptica y Electrónica. Molly graduated from Wesleyan University in 2021 with degrees in astronomy and physics, where they discovered a passion for accessible, equitable, and socially responsible science communication. Molly enjoys teaching (and learning!) with all ages, and especially loves connecting with people through astronomy's appeal to human curiosity and wonder.
