Hello South Country Community,
 
Teens, battle it out at our Super Smash Bros. event, and earn community service credits volunteering at our Haunted Library.
 
Tweens, do you like to build? Do you like sweets? Then sign up for our Marshmallow Engineering challenge. In November, join us to learn how to reduce anxiety and build confidence.
 
Families with Children, there are still a handful of October in-person programs with available spots, including Ring Around the Parachute. Plus, here's your Invitation to Create! 
 
Adults, watch the remarkable story of civil rights activist Alice Tregay in Alice's Ordinary People. The film's director, Craig Dudnick, will be here to introduce and discuss the documentary.
 
The library will close at 5:00 PM on Friday, October 27, and reopen at 6:00 PM for our Haunted Library. Read more below.
 
Don't forget to trick-or-treat at the library after the Bellport Halloween Parade on October 28, and on Halloween!

The library will close for business early to have a building-wide spooky haunted library event for all ages! We will have a guided walking tour throughout our building filled with exciting scares as well as green screen photos, ghost stories, a costume contest, and more! No registration.
 
 
Halloween Green Screen Photos
Saturday, October 28, 11:30 AM - 2:30 PM
 
After you walk in the Halloween parade, stop by the library to get your photo taken in a spooky setting using the library’s green screen!

Repair Café
Saturday, October 28, 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM
 
The Repair Cafe is here to help you fix broken items. Drop in for a cup of coffee and meet with knowledgeable volunteers who can guide you through the repair. Reduce waste, save money, and learn repair skills to get more use out of what you own. No registration required.
Repair Coach Volunteers Needed: 11:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Help people save money and reduce waste by not replacing broken items. If you have practical skills and can share repair tips, please volunteer for our Repair Café. Volunteers receive refreshments and lunch. Please bring your tools. Sign up here or call 631-286-0818 x1.

Museum Passes & Discount Tickets
The Library offers free passes to select museums on Long Island & in NYC.
We also provide access to discounted tickets to the Long Island Aquarium & the Bronx Zoo. Learn more here!
Print-on-Demand passes include the Harbes Barnyard Adventure and the LI Science Center.

If you are able, please donate items such as shampoo, soap, gloves, socks, period products, dental products, etc.
 
The Community Cabinet and donation bin are next to our Food Pantry in the lobby.
 
 
Sign Up to be a Literacy Volunteer
Are you interested in helping an English speaker learn to read and write? The Library is looking for volunteers with instructional experience. You can open countless doors for 
someone else by offering the gift of literacy. Interested persons should complete this application and contact Jack in the Reference Department at 631-286-0818 ext 1.

Available Mondays through Fridays (subject to change).

Fee: $2.00 per notarized signature
 
We are not able to notarized wills, mortgages, or sales of property.  All documents must be in English. You must have a valid New York State driver’s license or identification card. You may use a valid United States passport but must also have proof of residence that shows your current address. No post office boxes.

Passport Services by Appointment
We serve first-time applicants, minor applicants, adult applicants whose most recent passport was issued as a minor, and applicants who have lost their passports. 
Hours are by appointment only.

South Country Library patrons may renew their card or apply for a new one online. Images of photo ID & address verification are required. Or visit our Patron Services desk at the front of the library for the same service.

Services for Veterans and Job-Seekers
Helps veterans and their families navigate the VA bureaucracy, provides academic tutoring, and assists with employment transition.
Provides various tools to help with every step of the job search including résumé assistance, interview preparation, and career planning.
Each service provides live virtual assistance every day
from 2:00 - 11:00 PM. A current library card is required.
