Dr. Erin Bush from the University of North Georgia will present a fascinating research-based talk about how a double homicide ended with one woman's push to pass a local option temperance law in Georgia in the 1880s. This program is part of our Celebrating Women series for Women's History Month.
Dr. Erin Bush is an assistant professor of US and Digital History at the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega. She received her PhD in United States history and new media from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. She is an historian specializing in the social and cultural responses to crime, particularly when criminal activity has involved women and children. She is currently completing her book, Under the Guise of Protection: Wayward Girls, Eugenics and the Growth of State Authority in Twentieth-Century Virginia, which is under contract at UVA Press.
