African American Culinary Traditions @North

- (ended)

Love gumbo? Join Dontaye Ball, chef and owner of Gumbo Social, and local food content creator Kahja Elliott at North Branch for a cooking demonstration on Tuesday, February 6th at 6 pm!

Black History Month is an amazing time to learn about the global influence of the Black diaspora on some of our favorite foods. Plus, who doesn't love a hot bowl of delicious gumbo??

Chef Ball- affectionately known as Mr Gumbo- will walk us through the preparation of his classic chicken and sausage gumbo, while sharing the story of gumbo's relevance and history as a staple throughout African American culture. We'll also be talking about regional variations of gumbo around the country and tips for home cooks interested in making their own version. Most importantly, attendees will get to sample a delicious cup of Chef Ball's iconic chicken and sausage gumbo!

Big thanks to the Friends Of The Berkeley Public Library, who are generously sponsoring this event.
