PROGRAMS & ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN & FAMILIES Four computers are available for kids to use in the Children's Department. Toys and games are also available for play.

For the month of February: For children. Guess the number of candy hearts in the jar. The closest guess will win a prize!

Now through February 29 For children newborn - 5th grade. Join our Winter Reading Challenge! Get a special game board, do some reading challenges, and earn a prize. One sheet per child. Register at the Children's Desk.

Storytime Yoga Saturday, February 10, 10:00 - 10:45 AM For children ages 3 - 6 years AND an adult. Hear a special story and learn some fun yoga stretches. A great first introduction to yoga. Please bring a yoga mat or towel. Register here.

Family Yoga Thursday, February 10, 11:00 - 11:45 AM For children in grades 2 - 5 AND an adult. Yoga stretches and poses not only feel good, but also are great for mindfulness and self-regulation. Please bring a yoga mat or towel. Register here.

Drop-in Program: Play Date Monday, February 12, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM For all children AND an adult.

You can play in the Children's Department any time we're open, but for this program we'll put out extra toys! While you supervise your children playing, you can meet other parents/caregivers in the area. No registration -- just drop in! |

Toys for Older Kids For 3rd-5th graders to use while they are in the library, we have a box with toys that require more maturity, need more careful handling, or have small pieces. Includes a Spirograph®, Find It®, Rubik's® Cube, KEVA® Brain Builders, and more.

Kids Birthdays We love to make kids feel special for their birthday!

During your child's birthday month, let us know at the Children's Desk so we can put their name on a paper candle on the bulletin board birthday cupcake, and give them a birthday sticker.

Overwhelmed Box a resource in the Children's Department Does your child feel overwhelmed from noise or people in the library?
|
|
The Children's Department has a box with sensory items that may help. It contains 2 child-sized noise-reduction headphones, a small weighted lap pad, and mindfulness tracing boards. |
|
Get ready to leave with a Helping Hand-Stamp Children love to play at the library, but sometimes hate to leave. If you think your child might have a meltdown when it's time to go (no judgement, we've been there), ask a Children's Librarian for a Helping Hand-Stamp. This ink stamp on your child's hand can become a part of your leaving routine and a reminder that we'll see them again!

Passport Services by Appointment We serve first-time applicants, minor applicants, adult applicants whose most recent passport was issued as a minor, and applicants who have lost their passports.

Hours are by appointment only. You may also call us at 631-286-0818 x1. Our service cannot renew a passport. Printed forms are available by the Reference Desk.
