Families with children, join our yoga programs (for ages 3-6 and grades 2-5) and drop by for Chalk Fun! Plus, adults and their baby (sitting in mom's lap) can sign up for our Mother's Group series.

Community Mental Health Support
Every 1st Wednesday of the month. Next date: March 6.
10:00 AM - 12:00 PM in the main corridor.
A representative from the YES nonprofit's Community Mental Health Promotion & Support team will be here to inform patrons about their mental health services. Stop by for free giveaways! Visit the YES website for more.
 
 
Our Seed Library has Started!
Discover the joys of gardening and eating your own produce. South Country Library patrons may choose up to four packets per visit, free of charge, from a variety of vegetable, herb, and flower seeds.

Solar Eclipse Glasses are available to South Country Library cardholders for the April 8 Eclipse. Glasses are available at the Patron Services desk while supplies last.
 
 
Last Chance for our
Oscars 2024 Contest!
 
Are you a movie buff and love the Academy Awards? From now until March 9, submit your predictions for the major award categories. The participant who guesses the most award categories correctly will be the winner.
The winner will receive a gift card to the Plaza Cinema in Patchogue and a copy of the book Oscar Wars by Michael Schulman. Be sure to tune into the Oscars on Sunday, March 10th to see who wins!

The Donovan Project:
Celebrating the Music of the Irish
Friday, March 15, 7:00 - 8:15 PM
 
Tom Donovan shares the music of the Irish in a way that brings their stories to life. The performance includes lively music and audience participation. He accompanies himself with guitar and bagpipes.

Community Resource Fair
Wednesday, March 20, 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM
 
We'll be hosting an array of organizations from our area that can help you. Each organization will have a table located in the library's main corridor where they can showcase their various programs and services.
 
 
Stony Brook Mobile Mammography Van
Thursday, April 4, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Brenda is our social work intern from Stony Brook University. She can help with information, referrals, and paperwork for housing, treatment, social services, unemployment, food pantries, and more. Click here for more information.

The Library offers free passes to 20 museums on Long Island & in NYC.
We also provide access to discounted tickets to the Long Island Aquarium & the Bronx Zoo. Learn more here!

Are you interested in helping an English speaker learn to read and write? The Library is looking for volunteers with instructional experience. You can open countless doors for

Personal Care Community Cabinet and Give or Take Food Pantry
 
If you are able, please donate items such as shampoo, soap, gloves, socks, period products, dental products, and/or non-perishable, unexpired food.
 
The Community Cabinet and Food Pantry donation bin are located in the lobby.
 
 
Passport Services by Appointment
We serve first-time applicants, minor applicants, adult applicants whose most recent passport was issued as a minor, and applicants who have lost their passports. 
Hours are by appointment only.

We are not able to notarize wills, mortgages, or sales of property.  All documents must be in English. You must have a valid New York State driver’s license or identification card. You may use a valid United States passport but must also have proof of residence that shows your current address. No post office boxes.
 

 
Renew or Apply for a New Library Card on Our Website
South Country Library patrons may renew their card or apply for a new one online. Images of photo ID and address verification are required. Or visit our Patron Services desk at the front of the library for the same service.

Services for Veterans and Job-Seekers
Helps veterans and their families navigate the VA bureaucracy, provides academic tutoring, and assists with employment transition.
Provides various tools to help with every step of the job search including résumé assistance, interview preparation, and career planning.
Each service provides live virtual assistance every day
from 2:00 - 11:00 PM. A current library card is required.
