Welcome Quincy 400!

400 years of the people and ideas that have shaped America.
400 years of history, diversity, and culture.
400 years of community.

Founded in 1625, Quincy has been a witness to 400 years of change, growth, and innovation. From its origins as a small settlement to its development into a vibrant City, Quincy has always been a place of legacy and pride. Along 27 miles of Massachusetts coastline and as the birthplace of Presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams, our City holds a special place in the narrative of American democracy and governance. The City invites everyone to join in on commemorating this landmark anniversary in 2025. Join us as we honor this extraordinary place with a year full of celebrations and events. Together, we can reflect on our past, celebrate our present, and look forward to a bright future.

Kids' Winter Reading Challenge (Read-And-Bead)
January 2 - February 28, 2025

Join us for our Kids' Winter Reading Challenge in January and February! Participants aged 0-13 are invited to join our read-and-bead program, tracking every 15 minutes of reading with a bead of their choice, to create a brag tag full to celebrate their winter of reading. The more you read, the fancier beads you can earn and trade up to, building up to the coveted 12-hour winter charm! Everyone will receive a special reading chart of winter characters to track their reading. If you're doing the reading or being read to, all reading counts! Stop by any library location beginning January 2nd to pick your tracker and bead necklace. Too little for beads? We have special sticker trackers for our youngest patrons. How many can you collect by February 28? This program is for children from birth to age 13 and their families.

We recommend planning ahead and reserving equipment in advance.
