Call for Public Art Exhibit!

Are you a local artist interested in exhibiting in the Thomas Crane Public Library? You're in luck because we're reopening Art Exhibitions at the Library!
 
Please fill out the Call for Art Exhibition application to apply. This application is the only method for consideration. Full details can be found in the Exhibitor Letter attached in the online application.
 
We accept applications on a rolling basis, and will do our best to respond to applicants in the order we receive them. Please note that we are currently prioritizing applications for June 2025.

Ready to hit the ground running? Get up and get moving with TCPL’s 5 weeks to a 5k challenge. All levels are welcome!
 
Run or Walk your way to a 5k with running plans for beginner, intermediate, and advanced runners. Log your miles and successes for entry into our awards ceremony on May 3 when we celebrate our participants with a party on the Olmsted Lawn!
 
Tag us on social media (Instagram @tcplquincy & Facebook) with #ReadRunRepeat to earn badges for best run photos, etc.!
 
Join WEEKLY group runs with the Quincy Social Run Club starting at the Main Library every Tuesday in April! Starting Tuesday, April 1 at 6 PM, meet us at the Main Library and follow QSRC on two different run routes - take your pick of 1 mile or 3 miles and go at your own pace!

Chronicling the life and sporting career of Kenyan marathon runner Eliud Kipchoge, this documentary profiles how he is attempting to achieve the seemingly impossible - a sub-two hour marathon time, improving on the world record time he set himself in Berlin in 2018. Rated: PG-13 | Runtime: 87 minutes

Drop-In Open Hours allows guests to use the makerspace equipment for personal projects and or experimentation!
 
Please note that The Cranium has a maximum capacity of 12 during open hours, and on some occasions we do have to turn people away when that capacity is reached. We recommend planning ahead and reserving equipment in advance. Reserve ahead here. Use of an equipment must be completed by the end of your reservation time so as not to run over into the following reservation.
 
Additionally, staff cannot provide detailed, one-on-one instruction during open hours. However, The Cranium webpage does provide detailed tutorials and instructions on the equipment and any additional questions you may have can be directed to quref@ocln.org
 
Makerspace programs are generously sponsored by the Friends of the Thomas Crane Public Library.

Marsha & the Positrons
 
Join award-winning kindie (kids + indie rock) band Marsha and the Positrons on Sunday April 13 at 3 PM for an afternoon of dancing and singing along to fun, energetic, upbeat songs!
 
Winners of the 2024 Josie Music Award for Children's Creators/Performers, their clever songs about science and how the world works with positive social messages bring smiles to all ages! Marsha is a Quincy native and former library kid who is delighted to be visiting her childhood library once again!
 
Life Size Candyland!
 
Families are invited to join us on Friday, April 18 to play our giant Candyland at the library! Try to collect all of our Candyland stickers and decorate your own Candy Kingdom crown.
 
Come to the Children’s Desk starting at 1:45 PM and get your group ticket and number. The groups will be called in order on a first come, first served basis. The activity will run from 2-4. While you wait for your turn, board games and other activities will be available. Geared towards ages 4+, kids under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

If you registered your child for a free tree, you can pick up your sapling on Friday, April 25th at the Main Library from 2 – 4 PM. Please bring a valid photo ID to claim your tree.
