This 60-minute yin style yoga class focuses on postures held in stillness while concepts of mindfulness are woven into the class narrative. The held postures focus on strengthening targeted areas of dense connective tissue. Breathwork is used to stimulate the energy systems in the body while at the same time bringing calm to the mind to facilitate the connection of the mind, breath, body, and spirit.Registration is required. This month we will be reading Grandma Gatewood's Walk: The Inspiring Story of the Woman Who Saved the Appalachian Trail by Ben Montgomery.
Emma Gatewood told her family she was going on a walk and left her small Ohio hometown with a change of clothes and less than two hundred dollars. The next anybody heard from her, this genteel, farm-reared, sixty-seven-year-old great-grandmother had walked 800 miles along the 2,050-mile Appalachian Trail. |
