Take and Make: Paper Tube Chickens

Pick up the week of 

September 15 - 19

September is National Chicken Month! Use the materials in this kit to make two chickens from paper, paint, and cardboard tubes. All ages but probably better suited to ages 5 and up. Registration required to secure your kit. You may pick up any time during the week.

Join the South Shore Community Action Council for a STEM-focused playgroup for ages 3-5 with caregiver. Explore the world around you through science, technology, engineering, and math with every day activities. Registration for the series is required through the SSCAC website.

Join Christine from Little Bee Yoga for 45 minutes of beginning yoga for both caregiver and child ages 2-6. Enjoy fun poses, music, stories, breathing exercises, and guided relaxations. Children grade 3 and under must be accompanied by a caregiver. Please bring your own yoga mat. Registration required.

This 60 -minute yang style yoga class focuses on thoughtful sequencing of postures and stretches with slow flow movement. The gentle and accessible movements and stretches focus on the larger muscle groups.

All levels are welcome, with a focus on beginners and advanced beginners.

This 60-minute yin style yoga class focuses on postures held in stillness while concepts of mindfulness are woven into the class narrative. The held postures focus on strengthening targeted areas of dense connective tissue. Breathwork is used to stimulate the energy systems in the body while at the same time bringing calm to the mind to facilitate the connection of the mind, breath, body, and spirit.Registration is required. The Literary Circle Book Group: Grandma Gatewood's Walk

This month we will be reading Grandma Gatewood's Walk: The Inspiring Story of the Woman Who Saved the Appalachian Trail by Ben Montgomery.


Emma Gatewood told her family she was going on a walk and left her small Ohio hometown with a change of clothes and less than two hundred dollars. The next anybody heard from her, this genteel, farm-reared, sixty-seven-year-old great-grandmother had walked 800 miles along the 2,050-mile Appalachian Trail.
