The History of the Baker Chocolate Company: A Sweet History

Local historian Anthony Sammarco details the delicious saga of Massachusetts's Baker Chocolate Company, from Hannon's mysterious disappearance and the famed La Belle Chocolatiere advertising campaign to cacao bean smuggling sparked by Revolutionary War blockades. Both bitter and sweet, this tale is sure to tickle your taste buds.
Ages 0-5 are welcome to join Marissa for 30 minutes of stories, participatory songs, and fingerplays that support early literacy. Registration is required. Please sign up for each week you are interested in attending.

Join the YA Librarian in making cake-pops! Each individual in attendance will be shown how to make a cake-pop. If you have an allergy please inform Brooke the YA Librarian of said allergy by reaching out to bvitagliano@norwell.ocln.org or stop by the Adult and Teen Services desk.
This month's take and make is a Paper Umbrella Craft. Those who register will have their craft kits put to the side for pick up at the circulation desk. This craft is intended for Teens. Adults and Children are welcome to sign up, but children will need assistance in assembly. Pick up your kit at the main circulation desk starting May 20th to May 24th.
If you will not be able to make the pick up window please call the front desk to allow others the chance to receive the craft!

Calling all teen gamers! Join us for the Video Games Club here at Norwell Public Library. Every month we will select from a group of switch games to play together ranging from Mariokart to Cuphead. If there's a special game you wish to see on the list be sure to tell Brooke the Teen Librarian. Must be rated E, E10+ or T to be accepted. This program is for grades 6th to 12th. Please join Kathy Berry, a self-proclaimed humanitarian, at the Norwell Public Library for her presentation, âUnlikely Friends: Tales from Refugee Campuses on Lesvos.â Treating herself to her first trip to Greece in 2017, she explored the country for a couple of weeks; then spent three weeks volunteering at a Refugee Campus on the island of Lesvos. Kathy found profound fulfillment and life perspective during her time at the Refugee Campus.
Peter Mandel hunts his stories and photos in the world's far corners, including Antarctica, India, Egypt, Patagonia, the fjords of Norway, the mountain pathways of Japan, and the deserts of Africa.
He'll show slides of his most extreme travel experiences âsurviving a coup in Ecuador, visiting a âcityâ of penguins at the South Pole, and more!

VIRTUAL: The Environmental and Health Benefits of a Plant-based Diet

You will learn how animal food production results in greenhouse gases and pollution, while using lots of land and water. Eating a healthy plant-based diet can lower your environmental footprint, while improving your health.
American Fiction is a 2023 American comedy-drama film written and directed by Cord Jefferson in his feature directorial debut. Based on the 2001 novel Erasure by Percival Everett, it follows a frustrated novelist-professor who writes an outlandish satire of stereotypical "Black" books, only for it to be mistaken for serious literature by the liberal elite and published to high sales and critical praise.
Pizza dinner will start at 5:30pm - feel free to bring a side dish to share. The film starts at 5:45pm.
