Spelling Bee
Friday, July 11, 11:00 am
The 38th Annual Spelling Bee is here! Join us for the library’s 38th annual spelling bee. Spellers of all ages are welcome, and the competition will be conducted in two divisions: up to age 13, and age 14 and older. Top spellers in each division will have their names engraved on the permanent trophy. All participants will receive prizes, and snacks will be served. No advance registration is required.

Lego Days (4+ year olds) Tuesday afternoons: July 1, 8 & 15, 4:00 pm Build with Lego for an hour. Finished creations may be put on display in the children's room. Bricks provided. For age four years and older. Drop in, no registration required.

Pajama Storytime (3-5 year olds) Tuesday Evenings: July 1, 8 & 15, 7:00 pm Bedtime stories geared toward children age three to five, but all ages welcome. Drop in, no registration required.

Toddler Time (18-35 month olds) Wednesday mornings: July 2 & 9, 10:15 am Simple picture books, big books, finger plays, songs and movement for children 18-35 months with a parent/caregiver. Drop-in, no registration required.

Picture Book Time (3-4 year olds) Monday mornings, July 7 & 14, 10:15 am Listen to a picture book, then do a simple craft. Three-and-four-year-olds are not generally accompanied by caregivers. Drop-in, no registration required.

Patty Cake Story Time (babies) Monday mornings, July 7 & 14, 11:00 am Nursery rhymes with movement, board books, big books, finger plays and more for babies newborn to 17 months with a parent/caregiver. Drop-in, no registration required.

Animal World Experience Wednesday July 9, 4:00 pm Matt Gabriel will bring an assortment of live animals and teach the audience about them and their natural habitats. After the formal presentation there will be an additional hour during which audience members may pet and hold some of the animals.

Clay Board Game (8+ year olds) Monday, July 14, 4:00 pm Make a game board with clay. For age 8 years and older. Please register on our online calendar. Registration opens June 30th.

Summer Reading
Don't forget to pick up your reading logs to keep track of your reading time and earn prizes all summer. This summer we are doing "Read To Bead" -- kids collect fancy beads for their time spent reading, and there will be a jewelry-making party at the end of the summer.

Nature & Novels Wednesday evenings, July 2 & 9 at 6:00 pm We're bringing Nature & Novels back! Join us for a 'silent book club' on the lawn - snacks provided. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy some quiet time! Attend any of these, and be entered to win our Summer Reading grand prize!

VIRTUAL: The Murder of Dorothy Milliken, Author Sharon Kitchens Wednesday, July 2 at 7:00 pm Author Sharon Kitchens will discuss her new book, The Murder of Dorothy Milliken: Cold Case in Maine. On November 5, 1976, 27-year-old Dorothy Milliken left her rural home in Sabattus, Maine, to go to an all-night laundromat. The following morning, her body was found slumped against the outside wall. VIRTUAL: A History of the Rolling Stones Monday, July 7 at 2:00 pm The Rolling Stones are one of the most influential rock bands of all time. They pioneered a raw, blues-based sound with hits like “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” “Honky Tonk Women,” and “Gimme Shelter.” Their longevity, rebellious image and musical evolution have cemented their status as rock legends.
