Picture Book Time (3-4 year olds) Monday, September 15 at 10:15 am Listen to a picture book, then do a simple craft. Three-and-four-year-olds are generally not accompanied by caregivers. Drop in; no registration required.

Patty-Cake (babies) Monday, September 15 at 11:00 am Nursery rhymes with movement, board books, big books, finger plays and more for babies newborn to 17 months with a parent/caregiver. Drop in; no registration required.

Children's Yoga Class (3-6 year olds) Monday, September 15 at 11:00 am Miss Christine from Little Bee Yoga Co. shares the magic of yoga with John Curtis Library families!! Partner with your little yogi in super fun poses, games, music, stories, breathing exercises, meditation, and guided relaxations that help to strengthen their bodies, minds and souls. This fun class provides a beautiful bonding experience between the adult and child. Each class is 45 minutes. The class is geared toward children ages three to six years, but all ages are welcome to participate. Please bring a yoga mat or towel. Drop in; no registration required.

Story Time (5-6 year olds) Monday September 15 at 4:30 pm After-school story time for five- and six-year-olds. Longer picture books and sometimes a craft.

Lego Day Tuesday afternoons, September 9 &16 at 4:00 pm Build with Legos for an hour. Finished creations may b put on display in the Children's Room. For ages four years and older. Drop in; no registration required.

VIRTUAL: Author Heather Wolf, the Color of Birds - Beauty and/or Evolutionary Advantage? Monday, September 8 at 7:00 pm Join Heather Wolf, author of Find More Birds: 111 Surprising Ways to Spot Birds Wherever You Are and Birding at the Bridge: In Search of Every Bird on the Brooklyn Waterfront, as she shares her beautiful images of colorful birds - just in time for the Fall colors! We'll discuss the birds, their colors, the purpose of their colorful feathers, as well as any evolutionary advantages they may have because of their coats. Heather is a Brooklyn-based birder, photographer, and educator. She works with the Cornell Lab of Ornithology as a web developer, teaches birding classes at Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and gives walks and talks for various organizations in New York City and beyond. VIRTUAL: The Golden Age of Hollywood with Brian Rose Thursday, September 11 at 7:00 pm From the late 1920s through the end of World War II, studios like MGM, Warner Bros, 20th Century Fox, Paramount, and RKO would dominate film production, not only in America but throughout the world. Despite the economic problems posed by the Depression, the studios became virtual entertainment factories, with each studio producing more than 50 movies a year. The legacy of these years of frenzied activity are among the best-loved, and most significant films, ever made. Led by Brian Rose, a professor emeritus at Fordham University, where he taught for 38 years in the Department of Communication and Media Studies.
