NEW!! Coming in November...

Subscription boxes!  Interested?  You select the genre - we select a NEW book and package it up with some goodies!  You can sign up for one month or subscribe for monthly surprises!  They will be ready for check out on the second Wednesday of the month.  When done, return the book AND the box, so we can ready it for the next month!   Registrations will be restricted to Hanover residents until November 5, then will open up to everyone.

Picture Book Time (ages 3-4)
Monday mornings at 10:15 am
 
Listen to a picture book, then do a simple craft.  Three-and-four-year-olds are generally not accompanied by caregivers.

Patty Cake (babies)
Monday mornings at 11:00 am
 
Nursery rhymes with movement, board books, big books, finger plays and more for babies newborn to 17 months with a parent/ caregiver.

Children's Yoga Class (ages 3-6)
Monday mornings at 11:00 am
 
Miss Christine from Little Bee Yoga Co. is excited to share the magic of yoga with John Curtis Library families!!  This fun class provides a beautiful bonding experience between the adult and child. Each class is 45 minutes. The class is geared toward children ages three to six years, but all ages are welcome to participate.  Please bring a yoga mat or towel.

Story Time (ages 5-6)

After-school story time for five and six year-olds.  Longer picture books and sometimes a simple craft.

Build with Legos for an hour.  Finished creations may be put on display in the Children's Room.

New England Ghosts

New England Ghosts explores local history through the lens of spirits and unexplained phenomena.   This historically accurate, well-researched presentation is about ghost sightings and paranormal experiences: one story from each New England state with magical effects to enhance the legends!  Even better - there's advice on how to visit each location discussed in the show!

VIRTUAL: Off Fifth Avenue - Gilded Mansions of the Upper East Side

Follow tour guide Ginny Poleman as she takes you on a virtual tour of the Gilded Age mansions OFF 5th Avenue, still standing and now serving as institutions, art galleries, and one as the Ralph Lauren men’s flagship store. Using vintage images, see homes built for names like Vanderbilt, Astor, and Roosevelt, as well as some designed by notable architects like CPH Gilbert, Stanford White, Ogden Codman, and the New York Public Library’s architects, Carrère & Hastings. Led by Ginny Poleman, owner of New York City Encounters. A graduate of Cornell University, Poleman is a licensed New York City Sightseeing Guide, a trained docent for the Municipal Art Society, and a trained educational guide at Manhattan’s largest art museum.

VIRTUAL: Taylor Swift By the Book - The Literature Behind the Lyrics

Authors Rachel Feder and Tiffany Tatreau will deliver a fascinating presentation based on their recent book, Taylor Swift by the Book: The Literature Behind the Lyrics, from Fairy Tales to Tortured Poets. Taylor Swift’s lyrics are filled with literary connections. Learn about the novels, poems, and plays that influence her songwriting. Feder, the author of five books, is an associate professor of English and literary arts at the University of Denver. Tatreau is an actor, singer, and teaching artist who has starred in various musicals across the country and is best known for her portrayal of Ocean O’Connell Rosenberg in the musical and original cast album Ride the Cyclone.
