Children's Yoga (3-6 year olds) Monday mornings, November 3, 10, and 17 at 11:00 am Miss Christine from Little Bee Yoga Co. is excited to share the magic of yoga with John Curtis Library families!! This fun class provides a beautiful bonding experience between the adult and child. Each class is 45 minutes. The class is geared toward children ages three to six years, but all ages are welcome to participate. Please bring a yoga mat or towel. Drop in; no registration needed.

Felted Squirrel Workshop (ages 8 and up) Tuesday, November 4 at 3:00 pm You'll have a blast crafting a charming felted squirrel, complete with an acorn. Watch as loose wool fibers magically transform on a felt-backed embroidery hoop. You’ll also learn a unique technique that will give your squirrel a fluffy tail.

VIRTUAL: The History of the Flying Santa of the Lighthouses Monday, November 3 at 7:00 pm The aerial visits of the Flying Santa to lighthouses and lifesaving stations have been a New England tradition since 1929. The program was inaugurated by Bill Wincapaw, a pioneering Maine pilot. Today, the nonprofit organization Friends of Flying Santa works to continue the flights as a gesture of gratitude to the men, women, and families of the Coast Guard who keep watch over our coastal waters. Thousands of hours are volunteered each year to ensure the success of the helicopter flights that include the children of Coast Guard families from Maine to New York. VIRTUAL: Wild Turkeys in Massachusetts w/Mass. Audubon Wednesday, November 5 at 7:00 pm The wild turkeys, synonymous with Thanksgiving and iconic within our region, have not always held such a stable place in Massachusetts. There was a time when turkeys were overhunted nearly to the point of extinction. Thanks to a reintroduction program begun in the 1970s, turkeys can now be found throughout the state in urban, rural, and suburban areas. Learn some natural and cultural history as well as the conservation needs of these native birds. This webinar will be led by Patti Steinman, the Education Coordinator for Mass Audubon’s Connecticut River Valley Sanctuaries, based out of Arcadia in Easthampton and Northampton. VIRTUAL: Great Music in Animated Films Monday, November 10 at 2:00 pm Step back in time and discover the hidden musical gems of classic cartoons in this exciting course. While many of us grew up enjoying the music of Disney movies, there's a whole world of iconic songs and soundtracks that came out of Fleischer Studios and Looney Tunes productions that are just as noteworthy. Explore the music and songs of beloved cartoon characters like Betty Boop, Popeye, Olive Oil, Bugs Bunny, and Daffy Duck. You'll be surprised by the adult themes and sophisticated musical arrangements that accompany these timeless characters and stories. This program will be led by film historians, Sam and Candy Caponegro, who are passionate about music and movies. For over thirty years, they have acted, directed, and produced professional, community, and school theater. Candy’s most notable professional acting roles are Adelaine opposite Nathan Lane in Guys and Dolls, and Cheri opposite Divine in the New York production of Women Behind Bars.
