We celebrated Read for 15 Day at CJ Schurter School.
We read the book All are Welcome by Adriana Penfold followed by a coloring craft that we hung up on the bulletin board in their Library.
The topic for Read for 15 week was Cultural Diversity so we read books and tried some new food. |

We had the Town of Slave Lake bring in their PD DAY Camp kids into our library. The theme was Giant Games.
We played Giant Snakes and Ladders, Giant Chess and colored a Giant coloring Sheet and Pictionary on a Giant Board. It was a huge success that the kids really enjoyed.

At Baby Bounce Story Time we read Peek-a-boo Books, played peek a boo with animal finger puppets and then made an I-Spy craft to take home. |

Hythe Community Library first opened on February 21, 1984. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the library! The library was first housed with the village office in the Fire Hall and was called the Hythe Municipal Library. The library was open 2 afternoons per week.
The library and village office moved to the current building on 100 Street with each using half of the building. In 2021, the Village of Hythe dissolved and the library was taken under the wing of the County of Grande Prairie Library Board. The name was changed to Hythe Community Library.

The library has undergone several renovations over the last couple of years, the biggest being new flooring and lights. The majority of the shelves are now on wheels so the configuration of the space can be changed as needed.
The hours were increased in January from 22 hours per week to 28 hours. The hours were extended from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays- this has helped with visits after school and for those who work.An Open House is being planned to celebrate the 40th Anniversary when the weather warms up.

Kids have so much fun making their own art work during Kids Kreate, that occurs on every Wednesday from 3:30-5:30pm. We had a fun filled Valentine’s day party and made 55 cards for the seniors in the long-term care and lodge in Spirit River.
"These cards brought joy to so many seniors! Thank you! One lady showed
me her card every time I walked past her, she was just so pleased to have it!”
- worker from long term care
A big thanks to all the parents who bring their kids to the library for making our events successful.
