Senior Advocate

Advocates help seniors find benefits for which they may be eligible and assist with the application process. Programs include SNAP, MSP, and HEAP.
 
Registration not required, but we recommend calling before you depart to confirm the advocate's availability.

Scott Joplin: King of Ragtime

Composer and pianist Scott Joplin brought ragtime music to the forefront in the early 20th century. Join Dan Lupo on Zoom to learn what made ragtime special, examine Joplin's life, and hear pieces by the king of ragtime.

Defensive Driving

Course completion entitles you to a 10% discount on vehicle liability, personal injury protection, and collision insurance for three years; and a reduction of up to 4 points on your driving record every 18 months. Register at the Reference Desk with a check or money order payable to Empire Safety Council. The fee is $33, due at registration.
 
 
Writer's Workshop

Interested in receiving direct feedback on your writing from other writers? Join the writer's workshop where writers read their work and share comments. Class meets every two weeks and a new piece of writing is due at each class.

The Sweet Side of Ireland

Join local cookbook author Margaret M. Johnson for a delightful program that includes a discussion of the transformation of Irish food from traditional breads and puddings to modern desserts with examples (and samples) from her cookbooks.
The program includes tips for traveling to Ireland, tea, and Irish sweets. Ms. Johnson’s cookbooks will be available for sale ($20) and signing. Registration opens Monday, February 26.

Join our Alzheimer’s and Dementia Caregiver Support Group, presented by Family & Children's Association and Parker Jewish Institute’s Willing Hearts, Helpful Hands, for caregivers of loved ones with dementia or Alzheimer's disease. Meetings provide these caregivers opportunities to meet with others, participate in educational programs, and have questions answered about their loved one's care.

We are not able to notarize wills, mortgages, or sales of property.  All documents must be in English. You must have a valid New York State driver’s license or identification card. You may use a valid United States passport but must also have proof of residence that shows your current address. No post office boxes.

Passport Services by Appointment
We serve first-time applicants, minor applicants, adult applicants whose most recent passport was issued as a minor, and applicants who have lost their passports. 
Hours are by appointment only.

South Country Library patrons may renew their card or apply for a new one online. Images of photo ID and address verification are required. Or visit our Patron Services desk at the front of the library for the same service.

Services for Veterans and Job-Seekers
Helps veterans and their families navigate the VA bureaucracy, provides academic tutoring, and assists with employment transition.
Provides various tools to help with every step of the job search including résumé assistance, interview preparation, and career planning.
Each service provides live virtual assistance every day
from 2:00 - 11:00 PM. A current library card is required.
