Holbrook Public Library
August 2025
“You can't buy happiness, but it's Sunday, it's August, the seas are working, your passport is valid, and your tooth doesn't hurt – that's enough for the wise.”
― Djura Kelj, Mir More Ljubav

Summer Reading is still going strong and we are nearing our goal of reading 100,000 collective minutes!  We have had so many fun programs, read so many amazing books, & are super excited to see what awaits us in August!  Baby chicks, a Summer Block Party, fun with Polar Bear and Lucky, and so much more to do and enjoy!

We look forward to seeing everyone in the library!

Library Garden Expansion is here!

New Garden Beds Coming to the Library!
This August, the library will welcome three new raised garden beds on the Plymouth Street lawn, installed by Green City Growers, a Boston-based organization dedicated to helping communities grow their own food. Funded by the grant from the Association of Rural and Small Libraries, the garden will provide fresh food for Holbrook residents and support expanded programs for all ages. Look for updates on upcoming planting events and workshops!

Experience Democracy Up Close!
From November 1 to December 13, the library will transform into a hub of history and conversation as we host “Voices & Votes: Democracy in America”—a traveling exhibit from Museums on Main Street and the Smithsonian Institution, brought to Holbrook with the support of a $10,000 Mass Humanities grant.

Explore the story of American democracy through interactive displays, a special exhibit on Holbrook’s own history, and a series of programs and events designed to inspire and engage all ages.

We need your help to bring this exhibit to life! We’re looking for volunteers and docents to welcome visitors, guide tours, and help with planning and events. Join us in making this extraordinary community experience possible!

Contact Patty at pconway@holbrook.ocln.org if you would like to get involved.

Winners will be drawn and announced on Tuesday, August 18. Don’t miss your chance—get those minutes and tickets in before time runs out!
