His Majesty's Airship: The Life and Tragic Death of the World's Largest Flying Machine by S. C. Gwynne"In His Majesty's Airship, historian S.C. Gwynne resurrects it in vivid detail, the epic story of great ambition gone terribly wrong. Airships, those airborne leviathans that occupied center stage in the world in the first half of the twentieth century, were a symbol of the future. There was just one problem: beyond the hype and technological wonders, these big, steel-framed, hydrogen-filled airships were a dangerously bad idea. This is a tragic story of the British airship R101-which went down in a spectacular hydrogen-fueled fireball in 1930, killing more people than died in the Hindenburg disaster seven years later-has been largely forgotten."

Falmouth Senior Center Book Club: Oh William! Tuesday August 8, 1-2pm Falmouth Senior Center Join us on Tuesday, August 8th at 1pm at the Senior Center (780 Main Street) as we discuss this month's selection Oh William: A Novel by Elizabeth Strout! Copies of the book can be picked up at the book club meetings at the Senior Center or at the Falmouth Public Library's reference desk. "Lucy Barton is a writer, but her ex-husband, William, remains a hard man to read. 'William,' she confesses, 'has always been a mystery to me.' Another mystery is why the two have remained connected after all these years. They just are. So Lucy is both surprised and not surprised when William asks her to join him on a trip to investigate a recently uncovered family secret - one of those secrets that rearrange everything we think we know about the people closest to us. What happens next is nothing less than another example of what Hilary Mantel has called Elizabeth Strout's 'perfect attunement to the human condition.'
