Live Music on the Lawn with Matt York -
Johnny Cash Songs!
Matt York Performs a Johnny Cash Program
Tuesday August 15, 6pm
Library Lawn

We are excited to welcome back longtime New England musician/author for another live acoustical performance on the lawn. Bring your chair or blanket! The concert will be canceled in the event of rain.

Matt will perform the songs of Johnny Cash and tell stories about Cash's career spanning from the 1950's to his passing in 2003. He'll discuss Cash's emergence as a groundbreaking artist in the 1950's, his marriage to June Carter and many other career highlights.  He'll also perform some songs by the many artists Cash collaborated with during his career.

In 2022, Matt was nominated for the Boston Music Award for Best Country Artist and his album Gently Used was just named one of Worcester Magazine's best albums of 2022. He has four albums and a recent single. Matt’s music explores a cross-section of everything from straight-up rock and roll to hints of country. Check out his site at mattyorkmusic.com!

We thank the Trustees of the Falmouth Public Library for sponsoring this concert.

Via a brief history of comics and an overview of the rise of the graphic novel, we'll explore the significance of visual literacy and how it features in literary culture today.

Welcome to FPL's longest-running book group, where we read a great mix of recent and older acclaimed books, and classics. We look forward to seeing you! This month, we are reading Daughters of the New Year by E.M. Tran.

"A lively, spellbinding tale about the extraordinary women within a Vietnamese immigrant family--and the ancient zodiac legend that binds them together ...Daughters of the New Year is an addictive, high-wire act of storytelling that illuminates generations of women fighting to reclaim the power they've been stripped of for centuries.”  (2022)
We've Got You Covered
Thursday August 17, 2pm
Speck Auditorium, Rowe Building, Marine Biological Laboratory, Water and MBL Streets, Woods Hole MA.

Please join author Dr. Amy Finkelstein and former Obama administration official Dr. Christina Romer in a conversation about Dr. Finkelstein's new book, We've Got You Covered: Rebooting American Health Care. Books will be available for purchase via Eight Cousins.

We've Got You Covered, by Finkelstein and Liran Einav of Stanford, presents a wholly original argument and comprehensive blueprint for an American universal health insurance system that will surprise and provoke.

“We’ve Got You Covered is the clearest diagnosis of the American health care system I have seen. Thought-provoking, readable, and realistic yet optimistic, this book should and will reset the debate about how to fix health care.”

Dr. Amy Finkelstein is a Professor of Economics at MIT, a MacArthur Genius Grant recipient, and a lifelong summer resident of Falmouth. Dr. Christina Romer was the Chair of the Council of Economic Advisors under President Obama in 2009-2010, and now teaches at the University of California, Berkeley.
