| Temporary Closure of Kern County Library’s Holloway-Gonzales and Wilson Branches for Critical Maintenance |
Bakersfield, CA – The Holloway-Gonzales Branch Library, located at 506 East Brundage Lane, and the Wilson Branch Library, located at 1901 Wilson Road, will be temporarily closed from Tuesday, August 6, 2024, through Monday, January 6, 2025.
These closures are necessary to allow for essential life-safety and critical maintenance improvements funded by the Building Forward Library Infrastructure Grant, administered by the California State Library. Both libraries are scheduled to reopen on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.

- Upgrades include security enhancements, layout improvements, flooring upgrades/replacements, and HVAC system upgrades.
Wilson Branch Library Improvements:
- Awarded $1,278,571 for safety and security enhancements and updates to aging infrastructure.
- Upgrades include security enhancements, layout improvements, flooring upgrades/replacements, and HVAC system upgrades.
The library department encourages Holloway-Gonzales and Wilson Branch Library patrons to explore other Bakersfield locations for their library services during the closure.
