| Extended Temporary Closure of Wasco Branch Library for Vital Infrastructure Improvements Through Saturday, January 10, 2026 |
Wasco, CA – Kern County Library announces that the Wasco Branch Library, located at 1102 7th Street, will remain temporarily closed for essential safety and maintenance upgrades. The extended closure ensures all work is completed thoroughly so the library can reopen safely and fully prepared to serve the community.
Wasco Branch Library, which closed on Monday, April 21, 2025, was originally scheduled to reopen on Monday, November 3, 2025. Due to construction and material delays, the reopening has been postponed. The library is now expected to welcome the public again on Monday, January 10, 2026.
The upgrades are funded by the Building Forward Library Infrastructure Grant, administered by the California State Library. Improvements include life-safety enhancements, updated flooring, circulation desk upgrades, and enhanced security features.
The Library encourages Wasco patrons to visit the McFarland Branch Library and to take advantage of Kern County Library’s digital resources available 24/7 at kernlibrary.org/elibrary. |
