Summer Reading 2025

JUNE 1 - JULY 31

We invite everyone of all ages to join us for activities, stories, reading, and fun this summer as we Color Our World at American Fork Library!

Beginning June 2, Tracking Sheets will be available to pick up at all of the Library desks OR you can use Beanstack for a digital version. Each day that you do ANY reading, mark off one octopus suction cup.

After 25 days of reading, bring your Tracking Sheet to the Library or show your Beanstack completion badge for a prize and a ticket to our Summer Reading Celebration. Your ticket grants you and one guest entry to the Celebration on August 1 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm, and includes exclusive after-hours access to the library, fun for all ages, and a gift!

Once you get a prize for reading, you are welcome to continue. Pick up an Activity Folio to create a one-of-a kind memory of this summer. (Activity Folios are only available on paper, not on Beanstack.)

Prizes are limited to one per person for both the Tracking Sheet and the Activity Folio, and will be available only between June 25 and August 9.

Information brochures are available now in the library or on our Summer Reading website page.

Those who complete their reading but are unable to join us at the Celebration may redeem their tickets for the gift in the Library August 2-9.

We look forward to a colorful summer with you at the American Fork Library!

Library Stories

Ethan was in fifth grade, and he had started to lose interest in reading. It had become more of a chore than an adventure. One afternoon, his mom took him to the American Fork Library, hoping to spark some excitement. While they were browsing, the librarian shared details about the library’s Summer Reading program, which encouraged kids to read for just 20 minutes a day to earn fun prizes. Ethan’s mom suggested he give it a shot, and with little enthusiasm, he agreed. But what started as a casual commitment quickly turned into something more. That summer, Ethan ended up reading for over 1,500 minutes and won the grand prize! From that moment on, his love for reading was reignited.

Studies show that students can lose up to 20% of their reading progress over the summer, and those who don’t read at all can slip an entire grade level behind. Participation in the Summer Reading program has the power to change that. In Ethan’s case, that activity made a lasting impact on him. Libraries change lives.
