Big Changes are Happening!
Part 1
The mission of the American Fork Library is to make a positive, transformative difference in the lives of all those we serve. One of the ways we seek to do this is by simplifying access to our resources whenever possible. This spring, we are taking a huge step in that direction!
We received a grant to allow us to switch our whole system to a more organized, user-friendly, and accessible one. Here are just a few of the ways the new catalog will be easier for you as patrons:
Our new catalog will be much easier to use. Narrowing down your search, finding digital resources, and making requests will be much more intuitive and helpful.
We will have an app! You can use it to check out materials, create lists, receive notifications of holds, and more.
You will have total control over your own account, including your reading history, tracking your suggest-a-book submissions, linking to your child’s account, etc.
Our staff has been working on this transition for months. We are preparing the records of approximately 88,000 physical items, 472,000 digital ones, and 24,000 library accounts to make the switch. We still have a lot to do to prepare, so we wanted to give you notice about some upcoming dates:
March 4-5, Library Closed for New System Training
April 5, Library Closed for Migration to New System & Catalog (online catalog will not be accessible the entire weekend)
April 7, Open at 2 pm with our New System
Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding as we make this big change. Stay tuned for another big announcement in our next newsletter! |
