Big Changes at the Library!

Part 2

Last month, we told you that we’re getting a brand new library system. You can use the updated catalog and app starting April 7! We have another announcement: American Fork Library is joining forces with the Highland and Pleasant Grove Libraries to create the Timpanogos Library Consortium (TLC)! This consortium will allow us to share materials like never before. We have been interested in partnering with local libraries for a long time, so we're thrilled to do so now.

Here's what will change because of TLC:

  • All of our library catalogs will be connected, so you can immediately see if the item you want is available in any of the 3 libraries.

  • You can request items from other TLC libraries be delivered to you here at American Fork through a delivery service.

  • You can return items to any TLC library. They will make their way back to their home libraries with our courier.

The Timpanogos Library Consortium will expand what we can offer people in our community! We're sure you have lots of questions. Here are some of the frequently asked ones along with the answers:

  • Will there be any changes in Libby or Overdrive? Not at all. You will still be in their system as usual.

  • If I request a book from another TLC library, how long will it take to get to American Fork for me to pick it up? We estimate 1-5 days for delivery. We will then hold your item for 7 days. If you have an immediate need for the book, you are still welcome to visit the home library and check it out immediately.

  • What items can I request from other TLC libraries to be delivered to American Fork Library? Books, dvds, and books on cd. Due to space limitations, other items will not be available for delivery at this time.

  • How do I find the new catalog and app? Since they are not ready yet, we will share those on April 7. Check our social media pages, website, or signs in the library to get the catalog URL and app information.

  • Will patrons from Lehi and Eagle Mountain be able to use TLC? Yes and no. You can still use your library cards at any of the TLC Libraries for free (reciprocal borrowing), but you won’t have access to courier services at this time.

Here are the April dates that will be affected:

  • Saturday, April 5: Closed while our system finishes migrating to the new one

  • Monday, April 7: Open at 2:00 pm with our new catalog and app

Our goal is to make it more convenient to check out the materials you want. We appreciate your patience as we work to make these significant improvements for our patrons!
