Are you a public-school or homeschool teacher looking for more resources? Try out our Teacher Totes! Tell us what you are looking for and we will assemble up to 25 items--books, DVD's, magazines, etc.--all in one convenient tote bag, ready for pickup on the day of your choosing.

Homeschool STEAM Team


Homeschool groups and families with students ages 5-12 are invited to join us for Homeschool STEAM Team on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 9:30am or 1pm in the Auditorium.

Free Library Resources for Homeschoolers

What do you think of when you hear, “free library resources”? Books? DVDs? You are correct; the library does have lots of books and DVDs, but Concord Public Library offers so much more. In this article, we will explore several ways that homeschooling families and Co-ops can use the library to access free resources in support of your homeschool curriculum. And all you need is a Concord Public Library card!

Search the Catalog
Search the library's holdings for books, magazines, educational DVDs, and more.


eBooks & Downloads
Read, watch, or listen on your favorite mobile device or computer for free! Check out the narrated ebooks for kids.These ebooks allow children to practice their comprehension skills with familiar stories.

Library of Things

With an adult library card, you can borrow tools, instruments, electronics, and more. We also offer a Children’s Library of Things, which includes:

  • Tablets

  • Wonderbooks

  • Book Packs

  • Lit Kits

Interlibrary Loan
If you’re looking for an item that the library doesn’t own, chances are we can borrow it for you from another library.


Purchase Requests
Fill out this form to request that CPL purchase an item.


Computers:

Desktop computers are available to CPL cardholders for two 45-minute sessions each day. Computers are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. There are three desktop computers in the Children’s Room of the Main Branch that can be accessed by children’s library cards. 


Free Wi-Fi:

Wifi is available at the Main Library, at the Heights Branch, and at the Penacook Branch. No registration or password is required. Wireless printing is available.


Homework Help:

The Concord Public Library has paid for subscriptions to these electronic resources and made them available to Concord Public Library cardholders.


Educator Services:


Teacher Totes:

Our Youth Services staff will gather up to 25 books for any project or topic that you and your homeschool students are delving into.  We can save you time and money and throw in a few new ideas for good measure!  Fill out this quick form that will let us know what you are looking for, and we will have them ready and waiting for you. 


Parent-Teacher Collection:

This small but mighty collection is full of informative, thought-provoking books especially geared for caregivers and teachers. Some of the topics covered are grandparent-led families, critical thinking skills, homeschooling, reaching young readers, makerspaces, students with disabilities, and autism.  To see the breadth of the collection, browse our online catalog.


Class Visits:

Homeschool teachers can bring their students in for a “how to use the library” introduction. Please call ahead to arrange a convenient time for a class visit.


Programs:

CPL offers many programs for adults, teens, and children. Of particular interest to homeschoolers may be our Homeschool STEAM Team program, which takes place on the fourth Tuesday of the month throughout the school year. We offer a morning and an afternoon session. Classes fill up quickly, so be sure to register online each month.


Museum Passes:

Provided courtesy of the Concord Education Association, the Concord Public Library Foundation, and the Concord Public Library, this service gives CPL cardholders access to passes or coupons to help reduce the costs to museums and local attractions. 



From books and DVDs, to digital resources and in-library services, CPL has so much to offer. As you can see, CPL is a fantastic resource that can greatly benefit your homeschool journey!
