Invermere Public Library is spearheading a project to bring increased library services to our area!
Invermere Public Library and Radium Hot Springs Public Library are able to provide service to patrons from Spillimacheen to Canal Flats. In order to better serve patrons who are not able to travel to downtown Radium or Invermere library facilities, Blair McFarlane, Library Director in Invermere, has launched the idea of a bookmobile able to reach any community within our service area.
Radium Hot Springs Public Library is looking at ways to support this initiative, and has published a Letter of Support for the project. Click here to read it.

Borrow a Bat Pack
Put up your bat signal!
With our new bat packs, you can locate and identify local bat populations. Each pack includes an echo meter (compatible with Android devices), identification guides, a real bat skeleton (so tiny!), and a backpack. Available to borrow from the library- come in and we’ll get you started!
The Radon Library lending program is provided free to library patrons through support from Health Canada, the BC Lung Association, Simon Fraser University and the Kootenay Library Federation. The Kits are available for four-week loans.
Radon gas comes from naturally occurring uranium in soils and rocks and some regions in Canada have more uranium than others. Radon levels in homes can be elevated but it is impossible to tell unless you test as the gas is odourless, tasteless and colourless.
You can place a hold on our website, call, or email us to add your name to the holds list. Unfortunately our system had a glitch, and holds made on the kit before March 2020 were not saved, so if you placed a hold previously, you will need to add it
Click here to find the radon kit in our catalogue. Click “place hold” be put on the waitlist for the radon lending kit. Please call the library if you have any questions.
Notice of Privacy Breach - BC Libraries Cooperative / Sitka
As we take our patrons' privacy very seriously, we want to inform you of a brief minor security breach incident that occurred between March 27 and April 19th to our library operating system, SITKA.
Message from the BC Libraries Cooperative:
On April 25, 2024, we were notified of a privacy breach that affected all Sitka libraries (public libraries in BC that share the same integrated library system).
Log files on their servers were obtained that contained the email addresses and phone numbers of patrons who had received automated notifications from the library system (i.e., checkout notices, overdue notices, hold notifications) between March 27 and April 19.
Only the email addresses of people who received notifications (or the phone number of people who received SMS notifications) were leaked. The content of the notifications was NOT leaked. The leaked data does not say what the notifications were about, and it does NOT reveal any other information about patrons or their library use, such as checkouts and holds. The BC Library Co-op regrets that this happened and is working with the software provider to ensure this issue is resolved and does not occur again.
In addition, it may increase the likelihood of spear phishing messages (i.e. messages pretending to be from a person or system you are known to communicate with). Please know that the library will NEVER ask you for your password nor any other sensitive information like social insurance or banking information, nor ask for funds from you.
If you receive any message that appears to be from the library but is asking for any of these things, do not hesitate to follow up by calling us directly at 250-347-2434 if you are at all unsure of its truthfulness. We are in touch with the Co-op for any updates or developments and will provide updates on our website if there are any changes.
