Kids Art Exploration

Color and create in our art space in the storytime room. During July, our art prompt is "I am inspired by the world around me . . . Pond Life." There are images and photos of creatures that live in ponds (such as fish, frogs and turtles) and plants such as lily pads and cattails to inspire young artists and makers. Materials will vary throughout the month, and children are invited to design and create their own projects using those supplies.

This open-ended, process-based art builds independence, self-regulation, creative thinking, self-discovery, learning, experimentation, confidence, and motor skills. There is no specific project or way something should look; rather, the value is in the experience of creating the artwork and exploring materials and techniques.

No registration is needed. Drop in and create anytime during library hours. Not only are arts and crafts fun, but these activities build essential skills to help your child learn and discover!

Stillwater Public Library now lends DVD players and DVD drives. Enjoy the library's vast collection of movies and television programs on DVD with a portable, multi-region DVD device. Borrow a player to watch shows on your television or check out a drive to view on your computer. The devices work with most DVD formats, except Blu-ray, and you can use them to play music CDs and audiobooks too. They are user-friendly and easy to connect. The DVD devices are available to borrow for up to four weeks - plenty of time to make it through that TV series you've always been meaning to watch.
