Tech Help Sessions

One-on-One Tech Help Sessions

Our librarians are always happy to help you use our technology-related resources, but sometimes you might need more than a quick tip or instruction. Perhaps you'd like to get started with downloadable audiobooks or maybe you have an aging parent needing patient guidance on technology. Our Tech Help sessions can make a big difference in increasing comfort with a device or accessing information.

Sign up for an hour-long session to work individually with a technology assistant at Stillwater Public Library. We offer a wide range of tech help, including using a computer, getting on the internet, or using a phone, tablet, or reader to access e-books and other library resources.

Registration is required for these one-on-one sessions. Following are some upcoming Tech Help dates and times:

Friday, March 10 at 2:00 PM

Tuesday, March 14 at 11:00 AM

Lake Elmo

Norwegian Ski Club
Circa 1889

From the library's John Runk Historical Collection, we found this photo of the Norwegian Ski Club of Stillwater, Minnesota, in 1889. Left to right, top row, Martin Olstad, Emil Grant, Pete Foss, John Johnson, Mikkal Thon, Nels Paulson, and Bert Johnson. Bottom row, Ole H. Olsen, Hans Olsen, Nick Bakke, Jens Olsen, John Anderson, Mikkal Hemmingstvet.

The club was formally organized in 1887 to "visit St. Paul during the carnival and practice the old-country sport at home" as written in the January 15, 1887, edition of the Stillwater Messenger.  See page 4, column 6 for the reference to the ski club.

You can further explore the past with the library's collection of newspapers, magazines, and manuscripts. Dig into history with local, state, and national resources.
