The library is looking for exceptional teen volunteers to help with our Summer Reading Program. You’ll stay busy and you’ll get great volunteer experience, too. The VolunTEEN program is open to students entering 9th-12th grade who can commit to volunteering at least four weeks out of the summer.
Volunteering provides you with several benefits:
All VolunTEENS will earn volunteer hours, which can be used as community service credit for school.
Volunteer hours also look great on college applications as well as on applications for jobs.
You’ll gain valuable work experience and you’ll make professional contacts that may be useful for references in the future.
Lastly, you’ll have fun!
Read below for important information about VolunTEEN recruitment, duties, and important deadlines.
Interested teens are required to attend a VolunTEEN Q&A Panel Discussions to learn more about what to expect as a VolunTEEN before applying to the program. Past volunteers will share about their experiences and library staff will provide additional information about what's new for this summer.
Panels will be offered at each library branch and all VolunTEEN applicants, including former VolunTEENS and Teen Advisory Board (TAB) members, MUST attend a panel to be considered as a VolunTEEN applicant.
Please attend one of the following Panel Discussions:
